We are pleased to be able to supply you with a new line
of industrial Flash memory products.
Starting immediately, we are the exclusive distributor in
Germany for the SiliconDrive™
product range from the californian company SiliconSystems.
Following SanDisk’s
decision to phase out their industrial and standard grade products, we
can now offer our customers a comparable range of products from another
manufacturer.
Our investigations showed that the
SiliconDrive™ products are the sole Flash memory products on the marketplace
with comparable technical specifications to the SanDisk
I-Grade products.
In Juni 2004, SanDisk entered a Cross
License Agreement with SiliconSystems
to share patents on Flash
Memory technologies.
Technical highlights
Single Level Cell (binary) NAND
Flash memory is used for the PC Card, CompactFlash Card,
the 2.5" FlashDrive
and for the 40-pin modules.
This technology is characterized by good read and write speeds even with
small data blocks.
The Tahoe Controller, which was developed
in-house by SiliconSystems, has a highly-effective 6-bit
ECC error correction algorithm (compared to 4-bit
for SanDisk I-Grade). It also has a Wear-Leveling
Algorithm (patent pending).
The patented
PowerArmor™ technology prevents destruction of
memory cells and data loss if
the power supply
fails when writing data.
Application specific technologies such as four different levels of safe
data erasing through to physical destruction of the
memory cells (SiSweep™, SiScrub™, SiPurge™,
SiDestroy™), write protection (SiProtect™)
and password protection (SiSecure™)
extend the range of applications of these memory products in
the industrial and aerospace sectors.
Technical features
Features such as DMA support, serialization, traceability,
fixed bit for IDE applications (non-removable device), True
IDE Mode and
versions for an extended
temperature range of –40°C
to +85°C (operating) make the SiliconDrive products ideal for
industrial applications. |

Compared to the SanDisk
Industrial Grade product line, the SiliconDrive™ Flash memory products
feature a higher reliability
(MTBF >4 mio. h compared to >3 mio.
h), the same lifetime (write/
erase cycles >2 mio.) and very good shock
resistance (1,000 G,
half sine wave of 0.5 ms duration) and vibration resistance (16.3 G
RMS), all tested to the MIL Standard 810F (the test method is slightly
different to the SanDisk test method).

2.5" FlashDrive (max. 8 GB), PC Card (max. 8 GB), CompactFlash (max.
4 GB) and 40-pin IDE module (max. 2 GB)
The maximum memory capacities of the
SiliconDrive™ products are in some cases higher than
the SanDisk I-Grade products. In addition, SiliconSystems’ roadmap
of maximum capacities in the future is very
ambitious.
Technical support
As required by industrial applications, SiliconSystems guarantees multi-year
product lifecycles for
the SiliconDrive™ products. Future changes
in technology will
be notified at a very early stage; products with new technologies will
have a new product name and/or new order number.
SiliconSystems is offering a 5 year
warranty on all products.
Our Full
Metal Cards will soon be manufactured with SiliconSystems’
memory technology. We will publish more details
in the near future.
