altec ComputerSysteme GmbH expands its business division
Transponder and Radio Frequency Module Technology. Since
October 1st, 2006, Norbert Dremmler is in charge of this
business division.
RFID
(Radio Frequency Identification) is a type of automatic identification
system allowing contactless identification of objects. This possibility
of real-time tracking of goods increases the efficiency of processes in
different industries.

2. Invitations to electronica 2006
Two weeks ago we started sending out invitations to
electronica
via E-Mail to different customer groups.
This way we provide each addressee individually with information
about relevant highlights at our booth.
More targeted invitations will be sent out over the next
weeks.

3. altec presentation at D&E Event in
Eindhoven
On September 28th, 2006, Mr. Olaf Meier presented a paper
at the event «Design
Automation & Embedded Systems 2006»
in Eindhoven.
The invitation to present the paper «Industrial Flash Memory – Advantages & Possibilities
of Flash for industrial applications» was extended by our Dutch distributor elincom electronics.

4. Price reductions for SiliconDrive products
We have passed on SiliconSystems’ price reductions to you! SiliconSystems
has reduced its prices over the entire
portfolio
– up 30% for large capacities.
These high-quality industrial storage solutions now offer
you an even better price-performance ratio.
Features, which are still not available for comparable
products, are included in the standard versions of
the SiliconDrive products without extra charge – e.g. SiSMART,
6-bit ECC or excellent transfer rates for small data
blocks. An additional charge only applies for SiliconDrive
Secure
features as well as i-Temp products.

5. NEW: RoHS compliant
CF-IDE Adapter
The
CompactFlash
Adapter
with 40-pin male connector is
now available in a RoHS complaint version (Item no. B30AL2051).
DMA mode is possible with appropriate memory cards.
The CF-IDE Adapter with 40-pin female connector is
available in an RoHS compliant version upon request.

6. NEW: SanDisk 4 GB miniSDHC
Our supplier SanDisk has introduced the first miniSD
High Capacity based on the new SD 2.0 specification.
This new 4 GB SDHC does not work with current mobile
phones. However, samples of miniSDHC cards are delivered
to major manufacturers of mobile phones in order
to allow compliancy to the next generation of mobile
phones.
The new cards will probably be on sale at the beginning
of 2007.

7. NEW: SanDisk 16 GB CompactFlash
Extreme III
At Photokina 2006, SanDisk has introduced CompactFlash Cards
with the world’s highest capacities of 12 and 16 GB.
These CF Cards of the Extreme III line will have minimum
write and read speeds of 20 MB/sec. The cards as well
as a specially developed Extreme USB 2.0 Reader will be available by the
end of the year.

8. EOL: SanDisk 128 MB
OEM USB Sticks
SanDisk has announced the EOL of all 128 MB OEM USB
Sticks.
Affected by this EOL notification are: UFD
Micro
(SanDisk Item no. SDUFD2AB-128,
altec Item no. B41SD128), UFD Core Module (SanDisk
Item no. SDUFD2AA-128) and
UFD
Waterproof
(SanDisk Item no. SDUSB-128-101, altec Item no. B42SD128).
We kindly ask you to place your orders until December
20th, 2006. Last shipments will be no later than March
31st, 2007. As replacements, we recommend products
with the next capacity of 256 MB.
