1. Beware of inexpensive USB memory sticks

Recently we have received some feedback from customers using no-name USB memory sticks with our USB Stick CopyStations.

We have been doing more research and testing with low-cost USB memory sticks. Whenever problems occurred, there were always no-name products involved. USB memory sticks from international brand manufacturers did not cause any difficulties.

USB memory sticks of dubious origin are also a topic in the media. The leading German computer magazine c’t has already discussed this topic in two issues.

Problems can also be caused by USB memory sticks, where capacities vary within one production load. Please also read the paragraph «Troubleshooting» in the User Manuals for our USB Stick CopyStations.

Moreover, USB memory sticks occasionally made a negative impression with poor performance rates.

We therefore strongly recommend that you only use USB memory sticks from international brand manufacturers such as SanDisk, Lexar or Transcend.

2. Updated USB Stick CopyStations software

The software for all USB Stick CopyStations has been updated to version 1.0.8. We kindly ask all customers to install the new version.

The update mainly provides for a better recognition of USB memory sticks.

3. NEW: Trial software for CopyStations

You can now easily test all software options of our CoypStations.

Trial software versions, which include all offered software options, are now available for the software of High-Speed CopyStations (item number 31AL1488) and USB Stick CopyStations (item number 31AL1489).

The trial software version is restricted to the copying of 2,000 cards or USB memory sticks. Alternatively it will expire after 14 days.

Please ask our sales team, divisions CopyStations Europe, or CopyStations Rest of World, for your free trial software version.

4. NEW: Updated web pages for High-Speed CopyStations

We have updated the web pages of High-Speed CopyStation and High-Speed CopyStation Ultra and have added more information.

The information is divided into five sections: Overview, Applications, CardBoxes, Software and Tech Specs.

This sections make it more easy to access the content.

5. altec at CeBIT 2008

This year we will be presenting a new concept for CeBIT. The choice will be your’s: You can either learn more about altec’s portfolio on the fairground or on our premises.

During CeBIT 2008 (March 4th to March 9th, 2008), you can get an overview of our portfolio of CopyStations on the fairground in Hanover. You will find the altec presentation area at the «ICT in Motion» booth D 38 in hall 15.

We also cordially invite you to visit our premises in Langenhagen, Bayernstrasse 10. Our offices are close to the fairground (25 km) as well as to the airport (5 km).

From March 4th to March 7th, 2008, 9.00 am to 7.00 pm, we are looking forward to your visit.

In our show room you will get more information on our wide range of CopyStations. Moreover you will have the chance to test most of our CopyStations

You will also get an overview of our portfolio of Flash Cards, Flash Card Drives and Solid State Disks from altec and SiliconSystems for industrial applications. We will gladly provide you with information on our services related to mobile memory media such as duplication of card images, individualisation of cards, labels and blisters.

There will also be the opportunity to relax in our Cafeteria with some snacks.

We will gladly arrange your transportation to our offices if you let us know in advance.

6. NEW: SanDisk microSDHC 12 GB

Our supplier SanDisk has introduced microSDHC memory cards with 12 GB on the occasion of CES (Consumer Electronics Show) in Las Vegas.

First samples have been delivered to major OEM customers.

7. NEW: SanDisk SDHC Extreme III 8 and 16 GB

Our SanDisk OEM customers now can choose between new capacities for SDHC Cards Extreme III.

The 8GB card has the item number SDSDX3-008G-J, the 16GB card has the item number SDSDX3-016G-J, each capacity comes in a jewel case.

Our Sales Team, division SanDisk, will be answering your questions regarding prices and delivery times of these new memory cards.

8. SanDisk SD Cards Memory Technology Change

Starting mid January, an alternative memory source (63 nm technology) will be added to SanDisk’s SD Cards 1, 2 and 4 GB.

This product line is added to the further existing 56 nm memory line in order to ensure the consistent supply of the products.

9. altec advent calendar lottery

10. January price lists for downloading

If you haven't already done so, you can register to receive our monthly price lists online in the price section of our website. After receiving your passwort, you can download the current price lists for industrial memory media, CopyStations and Consumer/OEM products.

The price lists can be downloaded as PDF files (ca. 200 KB) or as zipped Excel files (ca. 1.2 MB).
