1. 15th anniversary of altec ComputerSysteme
GmbH
On August 6th, 2007, altec ComputerSysteme GmbH celebrates
its 15th anniversary.
altec is international recognized for being one of the leading
manufacturers of CopyStations
for mobile memory media as well as for being manufacturer
of industrial memory products such as Solid
State Disks
and
Flash
Card Drives.
Not only its continuously expanding portfolio but many other
steps added to altec’s success. In 1991, altec started selling SanDisk
memory products and is now one of the leading SanDisk distributors
in Germany.
In 2000, the first
CopyStation
for mobile memory media was launched. The introduction of Robo
CopyStation, the first automated CopyStation worldwide,
in 2005 was another milestone in altec’s history.
But the name altec is already known since 1986 for innovative
technical solutions, because then the altec electronic GmbH was founded.
Following the boom in digital electronics, altec’s activities soon
focused on today’s business areas..
On August 6th, 1992, altec electronic GmbH was renamed to
today’s altec ComputerSysteme GmbH. More...

2. High-Speed CopyStation Software Update
The new High-Speed CopyStation Version 3.4.0.4 is immediately
available.
Besides some minor changes – like displaying the drive letter when
mapping a card or user log off – the optional software feature «Short
Image Copy» is no longer restricted to FAT16- formatted cards.
Even memory media with higher capacities, which are FAT32-formatted,
can be duplicated by creating a short image thus making the process much
faster.
We recommend this free update to all our customers using
a High-Speed
CopyStation.
If you would like to update your software version, please
ask our sales
team.
Please adhere to the installation guide when you update your
software version.

3. Life Expectancy Estimator Software
SiliconSystems
offers a so called «Life Expectancy Estimator» Windows software
tool for those of you interested in calculating the life span of solid
state storage media.
The life span is calculated by entering the average data
rate, the fixed data space as well as other information of the storage
medium such as capacity and the endurance (guaranteed writes).
Information on the type of wear leveling used is also
needed. In applications, in which for example an operating system is taking
up most of the capacity of the medium, static wear leveling used in all
SiliconDrive products prolongs the life span deliberately.
If for example 50% of the capacity is used by the operating
system, the life expectany of the storage medium doubles due to the patended
SiliconDrive static wear leveling compared to storage media with dynamic
wear leveling.
